Welcome to the Movie Reviews Section!
One thing I always struggled to find on the net were independant reviews on some of those rarer or unknown titles that you come across in the Horror genre.
There are some excellent reviewing sites out there but I find they deal with mainly mainstream horror or don't give me the information I need.
You won't find reviews to predictable horror films here, this section will focus on those which sometimes slip under the radar but are still very watchable. Whether they be independant, low budget, B movies or from around the world, Shades will review them.
So, should you spend your hard earned cash on that cool sounding film you've never heard of? Is it going to be a waste of money or will it sit proudly in your collection for years to come?
Review Style
I'm not going to be writing an essay on each film and I won't be cross analysing it. I will give you a basic overview and let you judge whether it sounds like something you would enjoy. Everyone has their own tastes and mine may not match everybody elses.
I'll be providing some basic technical information and also giving the movie a theme i.e Slasher, Supernatural, Vampires etc. Hopefully this will help you identify the types of movie you like quickly.
Rating System
I will display a rating system for each movie which looks at key elements of what creates a good horror film.
It will be rated out of 5 stars as follows:
★☆☆☆☆ = Poor
★★☆☆☆ = OK
★★★☆☆ = Average
★★★★☆ = Very Good
★★★★★ = Excellent
The elements I will be rating for each film are as follows:
Storyline - It may not win any oscars but is it a half decent strory and script?
Gore Rating - How many limbs are severed, how much blood flows...you get the idea.
Effects - Creature effects, Cgi, settings, atmosphere...all wil be explained here.
Sex/Nudity - How much bare flesh are you going to see.
Fear Factor - How often you will be hiding behind a cushion...if at all.
You may not agree with what I've chosen to review but, we are all individuals and are driven by different likes/dislikes so I've tried to be as broad as possible.
